How To Get Started

Initial phone call:

I offer a no-charge brief telephone call as a way to begin.   Send me an email at diane.m.reis@gmail.com with a few windows of time when you are available and we can schedule a call.   I will ask you some questions that will help me understand the kind of work you are interested in and whether your concerns fall within the scope of my practice.  Another important thing to sort out is whether our schedules line up.   

Consultative Period:

If it seems like a good idea to go forward, we can schedule 1-3 sessions to get an idea of what it would be like to work together.   These first few meetings are a consultative period to determine whether working together feels like a good fit for both of us.  It is important that the fit feels right.  So I encourage prospective clients to pay attention to whatever feelings arise at these meetings.

regular meetings:

If we decide to work together after the consultative period, we will schedule regular sessions to address the problems that have led you into therapy.  It is important in the beginning to clearly determine what you want to work on, although that can change over time.
